Intelligent Parking Garage System
FSD designed the SpotCheck parking garage space detection and guidance system for OnePark Systems. This system monitors each individual space in a parking garage and transmits information about the location of available spaces to automation controllers that transmit the information to LED signs located throughout the garage.
As one drives into the garage, an entryway marquee sign shows the number of spaces available on each level. As the driver proceeds through the garage he is guided at every turning decision point by directional signs indicating how many spaces are available in each direction. Above each parking space, a high visibility flashing cyan LED indicates space availability.
For each parking level or area, there is an Area Controller which calculates the spaces available in that area, and controls the entryway marquee signs and any area directional signs. Each Area Controller communicates with an Internet linked Master Controller which reports the overall occupancy status of the garage to management, and the maintenance status to a service provider. An Area Controller also communicates with Row Controllers throughout the parking level to monitor their status and acquire the space availability data from each parking row.
Standard Products Simplify Complex Network Designs
The SpotCheck parking system is just one example of a large, complex network system that was made simpler and more reliable by its use of standard products that have been customized to meet the specific job demands. For example, the SpotCheck system utilizes standard FSD controllers that have been customized for this application. Other systems use our J1708 controller products and FGI device technology. We have also developed protocol analyzers and J1708 test and simulation products to make development of transportation products easier.
